What does the qualification cover?
This qualification provides an ideal taster for those who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners of all ages who may want to understand more about working in health and social care. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.
The qualification covers the areas of communication, equality, diversity and inclusion, personal development, role of the social care worker, handling information, health and safety, safeguarding, duty of care and person-centred approaches.
It is a must have for anyone taking the adult Intermediate Health and Social Care apprenticeship.
Who is it suitable for?
Anyone working towards a career in adult health and social care in a supervised job role.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 14 years old. We do not set any other entry requirements but colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.
How many credits are required to complete it?
To achieve this qualification, you must achieve a total of 20 credits from 9 mandatory units.
How is it assessed?
It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a portfolio of evidence.
Do you need to be working to take the qualification?
No, this is a knowledge only qualification.
How long does it take to complete?
You can usually complete it in 6 months.
What related qualifications can you progress to?
The Level 3 Diploma in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care or the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults).
