What does the qualification cover?
This qualification provides the opportunity to develop an understanding of different perspectives of death and dying, and the impact it has on individuals. It covers the aims and principles of end of life care, communication factors and how to access a range of support services in end of life care.
Who is it suitable for?
It is appropriate for those who have already achieved a Level 2 qualification in health and social care and are looking to develop their knowledge in this area. This could include workers in hospices, care homes, care in the community and primary care.
As a taster qualification it can also be used as CPD across all levels. This makes it ideal for anyone who may need an understanding of this subject even though they are not directly involved in the care of individuals.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 16 years old. We do not set any other entry requirements but colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.
How many credits are required to complete it?
To achieve this qualification, you must achieve 3 credits from 1 mandatory unit.
How is it assessed?
It will be assessed by your Tutor or Assessor using a range of methods. This could include compiling a portfolio of evidence, a task set by us or by an assignment.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
No, as it is a knowledge only qualification.
How long does it take to complete?
You can usually complete it in 3 months or less.
What related qualifications can you progress to?
The Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support or other related End of Life Care qualifications.
