This qualification enables the learner to develop a knowledge and understanding of substance misuse awareness - including alcohol - and its potential effects on individuals and others.

This qualification is suitable for learners wishing to increase their awareness of substance misuse.

What are the entry requirements?

This qualification is suitable for learners aged 14 and above. We do not set any other entry requirements but centres may have their own guidelines.

How is it assessed?

This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed and externally quality assured portfolio of evidence.

Do you need to be working to take this qualification?

Learners do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification.

How long does it take to complete?

You can usually complete this qualification in less than two months.

What related qualifications can you progress to?

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to Level 2 Awards or Diplomas in Health, or Health and Social Care. It may also be useful to those studying qualifications in the following sectors: counselling, childcare, sport and recreation, community work, youth work, or volunteering.
