What does the qualification cover?
This qualification develops a basic knowledge of childcare in early years settings. It covers working with children up to the age of 5 years old. The units include subjects such as the value of play, roles and responsibilities of carers and volunteers and the importance of developing links in the local community.
Who is it suitable for?
Anyone who is considering a career in early years settings. This could include parents and volunteers who would like to play a part in early years settings such as pre-schools.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 14 years old. We do not set any other entry requirements but colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.
How many credits are required to complete it?
The Award requires 6 credits.
How is it assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include optional tasks, coursework or portfolio of evidence.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
No, but it's recommended that you should be volunteering in an early years setting.
How long does it take to complete?
You can usually complete it in less than 6 months.
