V Cert updates to support your delivery

We’ve recently delivered prepare-to-assess events for our model 5 V Cert technical awards, including:

If you missed these events, we’ve recorded a session to provide generic guidance on preparing to assess the Non-Examined Assessment (NEA) and it’s available here. This session will help you to develop your confidence and understanding of grading criteria when assessing your learners’ responses to the internally assessed, externally moderated assessments. You can also find further support in relation to the delivery of each NEA provided in the Tutor Guides available on the qualification pages on our website.

Exemplar NEA responses now available

We’re pleased to confirm that exemplar NEA responses for most of our model 5 V Cert technical awards are now available, including

You’ll find these documents in the assessment materials section of the relevant qualification page on our website.

We’ll publish the responses for Engineering and Music Technology at a later date as we’re currently finalising these.

The exemplar NEA responses will support you in understanding how marking grids should be used and applied. The materials will also be a useful tool to use as part of internal standardisation activities, to ensure that assessors and internal quality assurers (IQAs) understand how to apply marks. We suggest that standardisation activities continue throughout the assessment window, transitioning from the exemplar materials to live learner work, which will ensure marking is being completed consistently.

Model 4 Technical awards

The following model 4 V Cert technical awards are now withdrawn, and the certification end date is 31 December 2024.

603/2964/6 - NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Art & Design
603/2650/5 - NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Health & Fitness
603/2963/4 - NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Engineering
603/2955/5 - NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Business & Enterprise
603/2960/9 - NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Performance Skills

Please ensure any remaining learners with a registered status are reviewed and the appropriate action taken to complete the learners within the portal. This will provide us with a clear picture of the final learners intending to certificate in summer 2024.

If the learner(s) have completed a previous synoptic assessment and you intend to claim achievement for them, please make the required certificate claim as soon as possible and before the certification end date.

If the learner (s) will not be certificating, then ensure they are withdrawn.
If the learners are continuing their studies and will be completing the synoptic assessment in summer 2024, then you will be able to book them onto the internal assessment from 6 November 2023 when the assessments are made available.

Updated teaching materials teaching materials for the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Health and Fitness 603/7007/5

We’ve updated the teaching materials teaching materials for the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Health and Fitness 603/7007/5 to match the V1.3 specification update that was released in August. If you’ve previously downloaded these materials, please ensure you’re using the updated materials available on the qualifications page.

These were a range of minor amendments that were made to terminology within various content areas.

The content areas that were affected are the following: CA1, CA2, CA3, CA5, CA7 and CA8. Content areas 4 and 6 remain the same.

They’re now all available for download here under the teaching materials tab on the qualification page.
