Updated assessment principles for adult care, childcare and health qualifications

The accompanying mandatory support handbook for the delivery of qualifications has been revised to include updated assessment principles for adult care, childcare and health qualifications. This updated guidance contains additional clarity on:

  • Contractual arrangements for assessors
  • Training requirements for assessors
  • Examples of qualifications/roles that tutors/teachers/assessors may hold to be able to make decisions involving the assessment of learners
  • Use of remote technology.

These updated assessment principles replace the previous ones within the adult care, childcare and health qualification specifications. These documents will be updated soon.

You must ensure that individuals undertaking assessor or quality assurer roles conform to our assessment principles and/or Sector Skills Council principles (where applicable) for the unit/s they are assessing or quality assuring. Sector Skills Council assessment principles can be found within qualification specifications (where applicable) and remain relevant.
