This TST best practice network session facilitated by NCFE is for delivery staff of English. Please come prepared to take part in workshop activities and share your own ideas.  The focus for this meet up is reflection and forward planning and prep - sharing strategies, ideas, resources and activities for the next academic year.

Functional Skills Intensive Onboarding Day 

This full day webinar is aimed at Functional Skills tutors, contents include: 

  • Introduction to NCFE Functional Skills, general information and an overview of NCFE ​Functional Skills ​ 
  • Learning resources, digital tools & useful websites​. 
  • ​Maths - Exploring past papers and mark schemes at L2, building blocks of maths 
  • English: Exploring sample papers and mark schemes at L1​, building blocks of English, SLC & contextualisation

Maths CPD: Formative assessment strategies for maths 

This CPD session for Functional Skills Maths and Essential Maths in Everyday Life teachers includes strategies that can be used in the learning environment to help with formative assessment, tracking and recording learner progress. This includes feedback and feed forward strategies.

English CPD: Contextualising English/Linking to vocational areas 

A CPD Session that explores how the teaching of English can be linked to vocational areas.
