Introducing Digital Functional Skills
We’re delighted to announce that we’ve now been approved to offer the new Digital Functional Skills qualifications (DFSQ), having successfully completed the Ofqual technical evaluation process.
Here’s everything you need to know...
The qualification
Digital Functional Skills is a 55 GLH qualification at Entry Level 3 and Level 1. NCFE’s qualification will include:
- qualification specifications
- sample assessments
- on-demand online assessment
- both levels assessed by external assessment
- results in 6 working days*
- remote invigilation.
What will NCFE provide?
Alongside the qualification itself and our sector-leading support that you're familiar with, we’ll also have the following resources to support the delivery of the qualification:
- initial/diagnostic assessments
- quality dashboard (an Ofsted level reporting tool)
- individual learner skills plans
- teaching and learning resources
- schemes of work.
Making your life easier – getting approved
The great news is, if you’re already approved for our Functional Skills qualifications, you will automatically be given approval for Digital Functional Skills. If you’re not currently offering our Functional Skills and want to know more, please just contact [email protected] and we can get you started.
What is the difference between DFSQ and Essential Digital Skills qualifications (EDSQ)?
Both qualifications are based on the same national standards, so the content differs only slightly. For DFSQ, we will assess through external assessments with no witness observations or EQA reviews. EDSQ is a controlled assessment.
What is going to happen to Functional Skills ICT?
Functional Skills ICT will still be available until 31 July 2023 for registrations. Like the legacy English and maths qualifications, the qualification will remain live for assessments for 12 months before final certification on 31 July 2024.
When will DFSQ be available?
DFSQ at Entry Level 3 and Level 1 will be available for delivery from 1 August 2023.
