What can we help you find?

Timely delivery of VTQ results

Updated on [22/08/2024]

This page will keep you up-to-date with the latest information on results in summer 2024.

  • Results for NCFE’s Level 3 qualifications (excluding T Levels) are available throughout the year depending on when external assessments have been completed or EQA activity has been carried out. Therefore, in order to receive qualification level results for Thursday 15 August, all required activity should have been completed by 11:59pm on Sunday 11 August, including EQA reviews, and certification claims.
  • Resultsfor T Level technical qualifications were released to providers on Wednesday 14 August, in preparation for students receiving these on Thursday 15 August.
  • Resultsfor Level 1/2 Technical Awards (V Certs) were released to centres on Monday 19 August, in preparation for learners receiving these on Thursday 22 August.
Make any outstanding claims immediately to ensure learners receive timely results

If you have learners registered on a Vocational Technical Qualification (VTQ) with a planned end date of this academic year where an EQA review has taken place, but you haven’t claimed certificates, we need you to take action immediately.

If your results are not yet available as you haven’t claimed certificates, you need to log in to the Portal and claim for any learners expecting results (please note that this does not apply to either T Levels or V Certs). This action needs to be completed immediately, as the deadline to receive results by results day was 11:59pm on Sunday 11 August. Once you’ve made a claim, this will go to your EQA for sign-off or will be processed immediately if you have Direct Claim Status (DCS) for the qualification.

In line with our arrangements with you this year, you're required to keep our records up to date in relation to learners who may now not be completing. Please log in to the Portal and update their planned end date to a future date. If you have any learners who are no longer on programme, please withdraw them on the Portal as soon as possible. It’s extremely important for those with an active UCAS application, that all certifications are timely claimed to ensure our ability to return confirmed results to UCAS.

Guidance

For guidance on how to use the Portal, please refer to our Portal User Guide

  • if you’re expecting a full certificate claim for a learner and the claim is showing as partial, this means that the units on the claimdon’t add up to a full certificate - beforesubmitting the claim, check the grades, units andresultsfor the learner against the requirements set out in the qualification specification
  • guidance onsubmitting unitgrades, and claiming certificates for graded and non-graded qualifications can be found in the Portal User Guide.
I’ve missed the deadline (11:59pm on Sunday 11 August) – when will I receive my learners’ results?

Once you’ve made a claim, this will go to your EQA for sign-off or will be processed immediately if you have Direct Claim Status (DCS) for the qualification. Your EQA will sign off your claim as soon as they can, but as it is past the deadline, your learners may not have received their results for results release day.

In addition, in accordance with your centre agreement, you’re required to comply with all requirements for the provision of information to us within the specified timeframes. Therefore, if your learner records are not updated this week, we'll need to refer your case to our Provider Assurance team for investigation into malpractice / maladministration and will also need to notify our regulator, Ofqual.

The final moderation report

Via the NCFE Portal. It will include feedback from the Moderator on areas where your students performed well and areas for development.

For students completing their T Level studies this year, we’ve submitted results to the Department for Education (DfE) via the Manage T Level Results Service. The DfE calculates an overall grade for students who have met all the required elements of their T Level. NCFE doesn’t issue overall T Level grades, nor do we print and dispatch T Level certificates. The DfE will share results with UCAS. Full details relating to T Level grades can be found on the Gov.uk website.

If you have queries about student results, please view our post-results services webpage for information on reviews of marking or moderation, clerical checks, or access to student evidence. Some key points to note are outlined below:

  • All post-result requests require the consent of your students.
  • You can request for a review of marking or moderation of a single assessment or assignment, for example core paper A, or the Employer Set Project, or a single assignment from an occupational specialism, or for individual students or an entire cohort. You can submit a review of moderation on moderated OS assignments, but requests must be on behalf of all students in the cohort.
  • You can find the timescales for requests in our Key Dates Schedule.
  • Please note that you have to complete each step of the post-result process before you can submit an appeal. Please see more information on appeals.

Level 1/2 Technical Award (V Cert) results

On Monday 19 August 2024, assessment results for your V Cert learners as well as your learners’ overall grades were available on the Portal (see Portal User Guide for more information).

Youdon't need to claim certificates for your Level 1/2 Technical Award (V Cert) learners.

Your learners will be auto-certificated 6 weeks after results release date. This means you’ll be able to view their e-certificates on Wednesday 2 October 2024 on the Portal and will receive a physical copy of the certificates around4 weeks after this date.

  • From Monday 19 August, you could also view the final moderation report via the NCFE Portal. This will include feedback from the Moderator on areas where your learners have performed well and areas for development.
  • If you or your learners have queries about grades received, please view our post-results services for more information on enquiries about results, access to scripts, a review of marking and more. Please note that any post-result requests require the consent of the learner.

As a reminder, there are no resits for single assessments, early attempts at either assessment, or the chance to combine multiple attempts across more than one series. Learners can retake the qualification in full, but no assessment results from previous attempts at the qualification can be carried forward. Learners complete both assessments in a single series, and this provides their qualification outcome.

Although there are no resits, these qualifications give learners a platform for further study if they do go on to continue that subject in further education - they'll have subject-specific knowledge which gives them a head start and helps set them up for future success.  Read more about our new V Certs.

These will be available the same day results are released to learners. This will be by close of business on Thursday 22 August 2024 for V Certs. These can be found on the qualification page on the NCFE website, under the Assessment materials tab.

This report is generic across the entire series cohort, and give an overview of performance and points to note across all learners this summer.

Take a look at our V Cert FAQs.

Withdrawal of learners

From Friday 23 August, you need to withdraw relevant learners via the NCFE Portal where a ‘Did Not Attend (DNA)’ has been issued on results day, and no new bookings are outstanding. Or, where a learner has not completed all their internally assessed units and is no longer on course and not expected to return.

To do this, please follow the instructions:

To ensure the timely closure of ‘Delivery of Results 2024’, we need these withdrawals to take place (or predicted end date updating) for any non-completed learners between Friday 23 August and before Friday 6 September. Any learner records not updated by this point could be seen as maladministration, and we’ll escalate the issue accordingly.
