Funding update: Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate (9 September 2024)
On 6 September 2024 the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) provided an update in relation to funding for the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate.
This update confirmed that the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate has been included on the list of approved courses eligible for funding under the Learning and Development Support Scheme. This means eligible employers can claim funding for eligible care staff of up to £1,500 for the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate.
Funding will be available for eligible courses and qualifications that have been both paid for and started between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025 (inclusive).
Further funding information
For the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate, a combined claims model will apply, wherein employers must claim 60% of the reimbursement value upon their employee starting the qualification, with the remaining 40% reimbursement provided upon proof of course completion. See further guidance.
In order to manage the roll-out sensibly, for the first few months access to the service will be via invite only but providers can complete an expression of interest form to be onboarded onto the new system. The form can be accessed here.
What next?
This funding is more limited than the previous scheme with no dedicated funding specifically for the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate. In addition, in order to manage the roll-out sensibly, for the first few months the DHSC will be providing access to the service via invite only.
As such, NCFE is encouraging all providers looking to be onboarded onto the new system to register their interest with the DHSC via their online form.
We also suggest providers currently interested in delivering this qualification to speak to our team via the form below to gain further support.
