Changes to our Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments policy and process for 2019-20
We’ve recently reviewed and updated our Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments Policy and Guidance for Applying Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments to reflect key changes made by JCQ to their Access Arrangements Policy for 2019-20.
Updated versions of these documents can be found on the Policies and Documents page on QualHub.
We’ve also updated our Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments online form on QualHub.
Although centres are still required to notify us of any access arrangements or reasonable adjustments, in line with the timescales outlined in our policy, we’ll no longer be approving requests prior to them being applied in an external assessment/controlled assessment (with the exception of any assessment modification requests which will be processed within 5 working days of receipt).
This also means we will no longer be asking centres to attach supporting evidence of learner need when notifying us of their individual learner requirements.
We’ll instead be working with centres throughout the year to provide us with valid supporting evidence for any access arrangements or reasonable adjustments which have been declared. This must be made available to NCFE upon request for inspection purposes. Inspections may be completed remotely by the NCFE Quality Assurance team, during a pre-arranged external quality assurance visit or unannounced assessment audit visit.
We’ll continue to work with JCQ throughout the coming year with the longer term aim of aligning to their Access Arrangements Policy and Access Arrangements Online platform. We look forward to sharing more information on our progress with this in due course.
