Talented NCFE student scoops award

We're delighted that 15 year old Sam Gatley (pictured) who successfully completed the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Animation, recently won a prestigious award in the National Schools Film and Animation Awards.

WAK Studios Ltd,  a 3D animation company who are based in South Yorkshire, worked in collaboration with City Learning Centre Rawmarsh to deliver the animation course using Autodesk Maya Software.

The NCFE qualification involves exploring, designing and planning animation techniques and  producing a computer animation sequence.

Talented Sam created an animation piece called 'Big Bob and Little Bob' which went on to win the award for Key Stage 4 Film and Animation.

Warren Fearn, Creative Director at Wak Studios, said: "Sam really deserved to win the award for such an exceptional piece of work."

Trish Sharp, CLC Rawmarsh Manager, added: "Wak Studio and NCFE's involvement with CLC has given us the opportunity to challenge and push students who wouldn't get that chance in a normal school environment. We have found a real talent in Sam that might have otherwise not been discovered."
